Valor Security Services - Security Officer / Public Safety Officer
Reports
To: Security Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary:
Patrols premises to maintain order, enforce regulations, and ensure observance of applicable laws by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Patrols lobbies, corridors, and public rooms, confers with management, interviews guests and employees.
- Responds to complaints and various incidents.
- Patrols public areas to detect fires, unsafe conditions, and missing or inoperative safety equipment.
- Warns or ejects patrons that violate the property rules and cautions careless persons.
- Obtains assistance for accident victims and writes accident reports
- Notifies staff of suspicious persons
- Assists management and enforcement officers in emergency situations

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required: related experience and/or training is a plus.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:
Ability to add and subtract tow digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Utilization of Web based Incident Reporting system (ie: WebInc.), PDA utilization with Property Zone software (D3 or similar) and Excel software.

Certificates and Licenses:
If required by state in which this position is employed, certificates and/or licenses may be required. The Security Director will inform the Security / Public Safety Officer of any required certificates and/or licenses if required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear in person or radio communications, especially in emergency or stress situations. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. All employees must be able to run at least 100 yards without stopping. Employees are regularly exposed to all types of weather, especially heat and cold (mainly heat) and also may be periodically required to climb at least 4 flights of stairs and roof access ladders. The employee may be required to conduct foot patrol for entire shift. The employee may be required to drive a security vehicle for portion of shift. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds for at least 20 feet. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to navigate in a dark room with the aid of only a flashlight for lighting. Employee must be able to discern bells, alarms, sirens and radio communications.
