Stride Rite - Full time Sales Associate

Job Function: The primary duty of an Assistant Store Manager is to manage the store when the Store Manager is not present and to coach and supervise sales associates.  Specially, the Assistant Store Manager:

* Services customers by using selling skills and by ringing purchases (and returns) on the terminal.
* Provides customer services by:
   o Approaching customers
   o Asking questions to determine customer need
   o Selecting appropriate merchandise
   o Measuring feet
   o Ensuring proper fit
   o Selling features/benefits; sharing product knowledge
   o Handling objections (if appropriate) 
   o Building the sale (ASP's and accessories)
   o Closing the sale
   o Using general customer service skills (ex. Smiling, thanking the customer etc.)
   o Handling customer complaints
   o Handling special fitting requests
   o Fills special orders

* Completes POS transactions by:
   o Handling cash payments
   o Handling checks
   o Handling credit cards
   o Handling split sales
   o Handling returns and / or exchanges
   o Completing voids
   o Updating customer records

* Assists the Store Manager in maintaining the general appearance of the store; assists the Store Manager in maintaining store operations.
* Follows Stride Rite merchandising standards to ensure proper use of fixtures, proper arrangement of stock, signage of store and to ensure timely and proper presentation of promotions.
* Follows housekeeping requirements to ensure store cleanliness.
* Directs and / or completes daily activities of store on a timely basis, for example: store opening / closing, paperwork (daily audit, cash report, deposits, Mellon Bank calls, payroll time reports and stock summary reports).
* Trains and supervises Sales Associates:
* Trains and / or reinforces the following:
   o Customer service skills
   o Selling skills
   o Terminal functions
   o Paperwork procedures
   o Merchandising techniques
   o Housekeeping standards

* Ability to lift or move goods weighing up to 40 pounds a distance of several feet.  Ability to lift merchandise in an out of stockroom
* Sufficient manual dexterity to operate all registers and equipment, package customer purchases and restock shelves with new merchandise
* Delegates work assignments and follow-up
* Manages the store in the absence of the Store Manager.
* Completes other duties as assigned by Store Manager and District Manager; maintains communication with Store Manager and District Manager.
